Butte Home Health & Hospice is a state-licensed, Medicare-certified home health and hospice provider. Any protected health information (PHI) relating to patients, referrals, or care — including anything covered by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) or the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA) — is governed by the privacy protections that apply to us as a healthcare provider under HIPAA and California law, not by this Privacy Statement.

This Privacy Statement applies only to information collected from visitors to our public website, such as website analytics, cookies, and details you enter into a general contact form.

Please do not submit personal health information, patient details, or other sensitive information through website forms. Website forms are for general inquiries and are not a secure channel for health information. Website form submissions are sent by email to our office (info@buttehh.org) and stored on our website server.

When you visit the Site, and only with your consent where required, certain information may be collected automatically, including your IP address and approximate (city/region-level) location, browser and device type, pages you visit, time spent, how you arrived, and date and time of your visit. Information We Do NOT Collect Through the Website

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information through the Site. Protected health information is handled separately under HIPAA and California medical-privacy law, not through this website. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone we know to be under 18 — see the Children’s Privacy section below.

  • Business Transfers. If our organization undergoes a merger, acquisition, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of it, subject to this Statement.
  • With Your Consent. For any sharing not described above, we’ll ask first.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our Site uses a consent management platform that gives you control over what loads:

  • Functional (always active): Required for the Site to work — remembering your cookie choices, maintaining session security, enabling form submissions, and protecting against spam.
  • Statistics (require consent): Google Analytics 4 — does not load until you consent.

5. How Long We Keep Your Information

We keep website information only as long as we have a legitimate business or legal need:

  • Website inquiry contacts: Up to 2 years from your last interaction, then deleted or anonymized, unless a longer period is required.
  • Website analytics data: Per Google Analytics 4 default retention (currently 14 months for user-level data).
  • Backups: Information in backups may persist beyond these timeframes due to backup rotation, but is not actively accessed.

Patient and health records are retained separately under the requirements that apply to healthcare providers — not under this website Statement.

6. How We Protect Your Information

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect website information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and vetted third-party vendors.

No system is perfectly secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. If we become aware of a security incident affecting website personal information, we’ll notify affected individuals as required by applicable law.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Site is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18 through the Site. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf with signed written authorization.

Global Privacy Control (GPC). We honor recognized browser-level opt-out signals, including Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of non-essential tracking. You don’t need to do anything else, though you can also set your preferences manually.

Note: These website choices are separate from your rights regarding health information, which are handled under the HIPAA and California medical-privacy protections that apply to us as a healthcare provider.

9. Do Not Track Signals

“Do Not Track” (DNT) is a browser setting with no industry-wide standard for how sites should respond. Because Global Privacy Control (GPC) has emerged as the recognized privacy opt-out signal, we honor GPC rather than DNT. If a uniform DNT standard is adopted, we’ll update this Statement.
